Talking about an awesome start !!!

Yeah baby, revenge is ours !! No I am not talking about our Dutch Hockey team below that is going to play the final of the world cup this afternoon (I expect them to win of course, go girls !!)



I am talking about Soccer !!! Robin van Persie !!!! Arjen Robben !!! We crushed world champion Spain last night in the openings match...5-1 !!!! Hope this is going to be another fun ride for the Dutch Team !!!

So after tonight, in addition to Bert Blyleven, we have another Flying Dutchman, Robin van Persie. I would recommend googling for yesterday's goals !!

I am already looking forward to our next game on Wednesday against Australia. In the mean time, tonight it's Italy against England ! That should be another great match to watch !!

Indiana Jones, Soccer and some Baseball !!

In the last 2 years I have gradually expanded my network when it comes to basebal collectors. Sadly enough we also lost a few good ones along the way, as they moved a way for the hobby (hopefully only tempararily, expecting you back Kyle :-)). Although baseball card collection is mostly a US "thing" my network in Europe is also growing nicely. Recently I came in contact with someone from Sweden, a first for me !!

Rasmus is a box breaker and I decided to shoot him a box of cards, a return packaged arrived a few days ago, a package with a lot of fun stuff !! Rasmus doesn't have a blog yet but he does have his own YouTube channel with box breaks so check it out here !

First up, an unopened pack, always great fun !! This one was an Indiana Jones, a set I had never seen before which increased the fun further. 

 Unpacking the pack resulted in some interesting Indy cards. No Harrison Ford as, on closer inspection, this was a Young Indiana Jones pack ! Here's two of the cards included in the pack.

Let's move to sportscards !! Here's a black-bordered Rivera numbered to 63, the card that got this trade started !

Rasmus is a big Triple Threads box breaker and these are very cool additions to my Yankees PC !!

Rasmus also included a bunch of soccer cards !! Here van Persie !! Really hope he will be awesome during this WorldCup in a few days time, we need it !!!

He also added some Topps flagship inserts, still need a bunch so these are very welcome !!

My First Soccer Auto !!!

This year's Allen & Ginter included a couple of soccer players, which a European guy like me thinks is very very cool. Of course, most of you Americans will look at me funny but do note that Soccer is the largest sport globally and the soccer world cup final very likely beats the Superbowl in terms of viewers. One of the players was Holland's key striker, Robin van Persie !! He plays for Manchester United on a daily basis and has been the striker for the Dutch team for years now. So since the summer I have been chasing his auto framed mini, first few were for way above $100 dollars but they have been steadily coming down in recent months, coming down enough to take the bait and get a great one for my collection !! Here it is !!!

Next step, the Pele one, although that one will likely stay out of my price range for the next few years ! How about you guys, anyone chasing soccer players ?

Some Dutch Ginter !!

I love Allen & Ginter and having a Dutch star in the set doesn't happen every day (ignoring Bert Blyleven for a moment of course). A Dutch Soccer player is even more awesome !! It's Robin van Persie, top scorer of the Premier League en striker of the Dutch Soccer team. I don't have the autographed mini yet (still way too expensive at the moment but coming down rapidly) but I did find myself a cool mini !! Meet Robin's numbered red back mini !!!

I hope Topps will include some more soccer superstars in next year's Allen & Ginter !!
