Frank Robinson !

As some of you know I have been chasing the 2011 Gypsy Queen Auto & Relic sets for a few years now. This is clearly a slow process as I only have a few more of these to go. A few weeks back I came across a cool Frank Robinson card. Although the auto is showing the age of the signer I guess I still think it is a great card. Here it is !!

So another nice addition but the quest is getting tougher and tougher. Let's hope I will find a few more, time will tell !!!

2 Double Rizzo !

I am really looking forward to Opening Day and will be rooting for Rizzo and the Cubs to take the final step this year and win the World Series. To open the season a style I added a cool Heritage "2 Double" card numbered to only 10. Here's Rizzo !!!!

This is really a big card, type of box topper ! Not sure what the "2 Double" means to be honest so I welcome any color on this !!

Dutchman

I love vintage and I love these old Allen & Ginter cards from 2 centuries ago. A card from a year starting with 18xx is just amazing. Greg at Plaschke, Thy Sweater is Argyle pointed me to another great card. Why did he point me to this specific card ? Well, because it was called "Dutchman", clearly a good fit for The Dutch Card Guy !

So here it is, for only a few bucks, a 1888 N33 Allen & Ginter's World Smoker !

Sure, a crapy back but hey, it's almost 150 years old ! Thanks a bunch Greg for this cool tip !!

Any of you trying to complete some of the old Allen & Ginter cards ?

The 2000 Milestone !!!

Earlier today I was updating my Glavine file with the latest cards I received. When I checked my summary page I noticed that I had passed the 2000 card mark, meaning my collection now holds 2000 different Glavine cards !!!!! Never thought I would reach that milestone already today, a few years after I started my Glavine collection. Which card was number 2000 you may ask ? Well here it is, a Topps Tribute to the Victors card from 2015 !!

Up to the next milestone, the 3000 milestone !!!

Happy collecting !!

Trade with a Card Obsessive Collector !

Trading has been very slow here in the Netherlands, mainly due to my own inactivity as life has been hectic recently. However, when I came back from a business trip a surprise package was lying at my doorstep, waiting to be opened. The package was from Matt aka Scooterboy at Card Obsessive Collector. Matt is based in the UK just launched his blog so do check it out and bookmark it !

So what did Matt send me you are asking ? Well, miiinniiiissssssss !!!! A nice pile of minis that I was still looking for as I am trying to complete all the Gypsy Queen mini sets. Here's a bunch from last year's GQ.

Matt send even more minis with a selection from 2014, 2013 and 2012 GQ !

To finish it off Matt send me a bunch of Yankees Stadium Legacy, a huge set I am trying to complete and will keep me busy for another 10 years ! So if you have any around feel free to send them my way !!

Thanks Matt for the nice surprise, a return package will be on its way in the coming period !

Big Papi joins the GQ collection !

As some of you know I am on a quest to complete the 2011 Gypsy Queen Auto and Relic sets. This quest is a slow grind and every few months I am lucky enough to find an additional card. Coming closer to completion the quest has become harder and harder. A few weeks ago I was able to make a nice deal with someone for one of the cards that was still missing. Please meet Big Papi, David Ortiz !!

Still a few more to go so the fun continues !!

Archives Signature Series - Hit or Miss ?

At the end of 2015 Topps launched the Archives Signature Series buyback set. To me it seems like a random selection of "old" cards with both a signature from the player as well as a Archives stamp and with a very limited print run. I even came across cards from 2014 and early 2015, not really "Archives" material in my view given how recent they were issued.

Clearly, with a range of Glavine cards present in the set a supercollector like me can only do one thing and that is chase them all ! Here's two I was able to pick up, one of the 80ties Bowman cards and one of the older Heritage cards.

They look nice being in a protected casing etc but I still have a little bit mixed feelings about this set. What do you guys think ?
