Verlander !

Despite Verlander giving up A-Rods's 3000th hit last week I still try to chase some of his cards now and then. As discussed in an earlier post, his cards have become much much cheaper compared to a few years back, let's say in the pre-Kate period when he was still throwing no-hitters. As a result, I was able to get my hands on a few cool cards fairly easily !! Here's the first one !

Meet my cool Premier Patches card from the 2007 UD Premier set !

In addition, I was able to score a cool autographed card from 2007 Topps Co-Signers, together with Papelbon (the upper one, pretty ugly right ?).

All in all some cool additions to the Verlander collection, one that has been on the background in the last 12-24 months while focussing more on my core 4 (Glavine, Rizzo, Kershaw and Blyleven). Can it be that I let me collecting behavior is influenced by the success of the players....I let you be the judge !

To finish off I know that some of you only read a Verlander post just to get a glimpse of Kate so let me not disappoint you !

Verlander & Upton

Some of you might remember my post discussing the jump in Kershaw prices versus Verlander prices, basically it was all about me complaining that chasing Kershaw cards was getting too pricy. Well, the flip side of that argument was that Verlander prices were coming down hard. Trying to benefit from this I bid on the cool card below and to my surprise I won this one fairly cheaply !!

I hope Verlander will turn things around this year !! Let's hope he won't be to distracted by ice creams this year !

That's Immaculate !

Panini actually did a good job with the Immaculate set if you ask me, even with the logo's missing. I have been able to pick up a fewe in recent weeks. Let's start with some Heroes !! Here's Glavine !

Actually a cool card with a nice patch, which is of course one guaranteed by Panini !! Got myself another Glavine ! Immaculate Swatches !

Last up a cool Sabathia and Verlander ! Not bad at all !

I actually think Panini is doing a good job and trying to create some momentum. I hope they are rewarded with an official license in the future !!

Contest Winnings from Bob Walk the Plank !!

Earlier this week I received a nice big yellow envelop. Opening it up it appeared it was from Matt at Bob Walk the Plank. The ones that have ever received a package from Matt know what that means....lots of goodies !!! Apparently, I was one of the winners of a contest recently, although I am not sure I can remember the contest, but I welcome the package anyways !!

Let's have a look at the content. First up, a huge pile of Sabathia cards !! Here's two, it's Vintage and it's not at the same time !

Couple more ! Let's hope Sabathia has something to laugh about next year as this year was clearly a disappointment for him personally and for the Yankees as well...

Matt also included a Dutchman, Andrew Jones ! Maybe even better, a very cool America's Pastime Rivera card, I really likes these !!

Matt included some more relic cards, here's a nice Winfield !

Another Andrew Jones was included, Piece of the Game !

Any package that includes Glavine is a cool one; and what do you know, there was a Glavine inside !!

Last but not least, the best card of them all !! A Verlander auto card !!!!!!! Wow, awesome !!!! Let's hope he recovers next year after this year's oke-ish season !

A Home Run Trade !

Recently I set up a cool trade with Mets fan Keith at The Home Run Apple blog. He had a bunch of 2009 Allen & Ginter for me while I had some cool Mets cards on my Want List that he was looking for so a trade was quickly born !! To be honest, this wasn't a bunch of A&G cards, he almost killed my full A&G 2009 Wants !!! Here's a small selection of what Keith send me !

Let's start with the base cards ! Here's Wright and Masterson, whom I only know because I drafted him in my Fantasy baseball by accident :-)

Keith also send me some of the inserts, here's Jeter and Griffey !

There's Jair Jurrjens, who I count as a Dutch player given he's from Curacao !

Cut to the Chase !! Still need a few so theses are very welcome !!

Starting Nine Trade !!

Last week I received a cool package from Max at Starting Nine, another new trading partner ! This blog really lead to great things, adding trading partner after trading partner...really awesome !! Anyways Max send me a cool package with a lot of pitcher cards as well as a few Yankees. Here´s the loot !!

First up, a couple of early Sabathias !! 2001 TeamBest which I had never seen before so a cool addition to my Sabathia PC !!

Max also send me a cool Blyleven for my Blyleven PC !! A blue Teixeira was also present !

A few Yankees Stadium Legacy cards were there as well, a young Jeter ! Love these cards and trying to complete the set (in the next decade or so given its a set of 6,000 cards !!)

Max also included an awesome purple Triple Threads of Mussina !!

Two more pitchers whom I collect (although at a very casual pace), Lincecum and Verlander !

Last up, the "hit" of the package, a lumberjacks Drew Hanson. Apparently, Drew played a few games for the Yankees before returning to the NFL to pursue a professional career there.

I even forgot to scan some of the cool Glavine cards he send me. All in all a cool package from Max, so thanks very much for the trade !!!

Bob Walk the Plank Trade !

Matt at Bob Walk the Plank reached out to me a few weeks ago with a trade proposal. Of course I never turn down a trade so a few days ago a great package arrived !!! Matt outdid himself with some awesome cards !! First up, A Kershaw and Glavine card !!

The package was really a cool "pitchers" package. Here's a cool Verlander card !! I like these All-Star Stitches !

Here are 2 Sabathias !!! Note that the Donruss Studio card is a "Studio Proof" card which are numbered to only 10 !!

Last up, 2 more Yankees or I must say, 2 ex-Yankees. the Retired Rivera with a very cool Gallery of Heroes card, and Whadaya Know Cano !!

A Big 44 trade !!

Trading has been slower than normal lately, also because I am very busy at work and therefore have less time to chase some new deals ! Still, I was able to set up a cool trade with Nate recently at Big 44 Cards. Here's the loot !!

First up a bunch of minis !! I love minis and I am still trying to complete several sets including the GQ mini sets. Therefore these were very welcome !!

I also still need a bunch of base cards and Nate send me two nice ones !!

Nate also send me a few 2013 inserts I still needed !!!

Lastly, Nate send me a Verlander Relic card, a cool addition to my Verlander PC !!
