Leaving 2017 and entering 2018 !

I am still here !! Although clearly lacking the discipline and time to leave a regular post !! Still, I wanted to leave 2017 and enter 2018 with one last post, a quick overview from a recent COMC package ! Happy New Year everyone !!

Again happy new year and I am fairly confident my posting frequency should go up in 2018 as is will be hard to be as low as 2017 ! Hope all of you are doing well and still happily collecting !!

Button me Bert !

Hi folks, yes, it has been a long time, way too long !! I have been moving house, work is hectic and the kids demand attention as well. So the blog has been suffering and my focus has mostly been on new Glavine and Blyleven cards through eBay and COMC and of course reading all your blogs. I think I don't owe anyone any package but if my admin is messed up due to the move do let me know !

Let's have a quick peak at some of my latest treasures ! First up, my latest Bert Blyleven addition, the Flying Dutchman ! Yes a 1/1 button card from Panini's Immaculate Collection, awesome card and my first Blyleven button card.

Next up, my latest Gypsy Queen 2011 addition. Still a little side project of mine, trying to complete this set. A slow but fun grind so great to be able to add Bernie Williams to the collection !

Last card is of course a new Glavine card, ffrom the 2008 Upper Deck Baseball Heroes set

Hope the summer holiday bring a bit more time for blogging ! Hope you all are doing well !

Richmond Braves !

Last week I added two of the first Glavine cards to my collection. Before debuting for the Atlanta Braves, Glavine played for the Richmond Braves. In 1987 Glavine was featured on a few Richmond Braves cards. On one he was already introduced as a "Future Star" so they clearly made a good call there !

Here are the two cards, both from 1987 by TCMA and the International League of Professional Baseball Clubs, as stated on the back.

Great feel to have added these to my Glavine collection. Still a few cards to go until 1987 and 1988 Glavine cards are completed but almost there !

Thanks for visiting my blog today !

My first Maddux !

Chasing every Glavine card in existince increases the likelyhood that one comes across a card that also includes Maddux (and/or Smoltz of course). The problem is that when Maddux is included on the card it tends to drive up the price. Luckily the card below has a print run to 50, making it not that scarse and with several one eBay at the same time the price was pretty attractive. So there it is, my first Maddux auto, with a Glavine and Thomas on the side from the Class of 2014 !!

Enjoy the last days of a great 2015 !!

Back with some Canvas !

Quick post today as I finally have some spare time in between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Life has been hectic but despite that, new cards have still been coming in regularly ! Here's one that came in recently, a first for me as it is a Canvas Collection card from this year's Museum Collection. The card is signed on the back, not by Tom himself but by the artist.

Any of you have these Canvas Collection cards ?

Konami anyone ?

I recently noticed a cool card on eBay and given it's a Glavine card I had to chase it of course. It's a 2006 or 2005 Konami card. Browsing through my Glavine beckett list I was not able to track it down on that on, making this even a more interesting one ! I only know Konami from MSX videogames from when I was a kid. Meet my first Konami card !

Do you guys own any Konami cards ? Any more detail one these ?

Number 250 !!!!!

Earlier this week I received number 250. "250 what" you say ? Well, my 250th Glavine Auto card !!! Yes, an amazing number and to think I started from scratch 5 years ago ! Not sure if this qualifies as a "supercollector" but I am on my way at least !

Here's my current Glavine stats, still a lot of cards to go:

So let me see the card I hear you think ! Well here it is, number 250 !

Thanks for visiting my blog today and keep the Glavine cards coming !!

My first Glavine ball !!

A while back I received an e-mail from Riccardo at the Italian Completist that a mystery package was on its way to me. A few days ago a mystery package arrived....no cards but something bigger ! It was a ball, not just any ball, a ball signed by Glavine !! My first Glavine ball !! Here it is...

Thanks so much Riccardo for an awesome package. A return package will of course arrive in the coming holiday period !!

Do you guys own and collect balls as well or just sticking to cards ?

Topps Delivers again, nr 241 !!

I am starting to like Topps' Redemption Program. Yes, call me crazy but hey, they ship for free to the Netherlands and they have not (yet) failed to deliver. A few days ago another Topps package arrived at my doorstep with an awesome card. A cool red parallel Gypsy Queen card, numbered to only 5 !!

To my surprise my excel file claims this is actually already my 241st Glavine Auto card...a shocking number when I think about it. This implies also that I now own a copy of 35% of the Glavine auto cards that were ever made so not even half-way !

Anyways, the quest continues ! Thanks for visiting my blog today !

Another Orlando LCS & 1888 A&G card !!!

I don't have the opportunity to visit the US that often so when I go I want to make it worthwhile. That's why I couldn't simply visit just one LCS and found one more to visit !! So after I visit Orlando Sportscards I paid a visit to Big League Cards, a 1 1/2 hour drive but it was worth it and a fun visit with my boys !!

It was a fun shop with nice people around. Here as well they had some Pokemon cards so I bought my boys several packs that kept them busy for a while. The owner even gave them some additional special packs so they were a happy bunch !!

Chatting a bit to the owner, a really nice guy, he indicated he was the inventor of the Allen & Ginter RIP card and has been doing work for Topps for many years !!! Anyways, also great to meet nice people but in the end we were on a mission, a mission to score some wax !!!

The shop had a nice selection and a decided to buy a few singles as well as two boxes. I took one box of 2015 Museum Collection, my first high-end break ever, and a box of 2015 Diamond Kings.

I noticed a few 1888 Allen & Ginter cards in the shop and was immediately intrigued. I didn't own any cards yet from the 1800s and I love Allen & Ginter. As the price was not really that expensive here's my first Original Allen & Ginter card from 1888, meet the Sparrow !!

I starting to really like these cards so I might be on the look-out for some more of these in the coming years !!

The second single I picked-up was less exciting, just a single Glavine for my Glavine PC ! For completeness here it is !

That's was it. The kids played some more with the Pokemon cards before we left. All in all a cool visit and hope to be back there some day !
Be on the look out for the Museum Collection & Diamond Kings Box Break reviews in the coming days !!

Visit to Orlando Sportscards !

So I asked for some advice the week before my holiday about which LCS to visit during my stay in Orlando. Several of you mentioned that I should visit Orlando Sportscards and of course I obliged !

After a 30 minute drive I arrived at the shop with my wife and kids. This of course meant I needed to entertain my kids a bit to enable a longer stay at the card shop. Luckily my kids love Pokemon and they had a nice assortiment of cards for them to look through !!

With that I could start looking through some boxes for some Glavine cards !! The shop itself has a nice set-up and has plenty to look through and also a nice assortiment of boxes and supplies. The owner, Kendall, is also a very nice guy and we chatted a bit about the hobby. Time was limited of course so I jumped right into a few boxes after that. I found myself a few nice Glavine additions !

Here's a 1998 Topps Stars numbered to 9799 (interesting how they came up with such a print-run !) and a 2004 Leaf Limited (/100).

I also found a 2006 SP Authentic card as well as a 1992 Panini Sticker !

Last up a very thick Panini Father's Day card as well as another M&M one. Still trying to complete the M&M set so further additions are welcome !!

That was it for the Glavine loot. This brings my total different Glavine cards to 1,625 !! I continue to target at least 2,000 Glavine cards by year-end, let's see if that is possible !!

In addition, to these Glavine cards I bought a few boxes to break during my Holiday, 2 2015 Gypsy Queen and 2 Series 1 boxes so stay tuned in the next few days on a review of these boxes !!

Thanks Kendall for the service, if you come across interesting Glavine cards in the future always feel free to contact me !!

Awesome booklet addition !!

Quick post today while I am packing for Florida (more tips are always welcome, check my post from a few days back!). I was able to get my hands on an awesome addition to my Glavine PC, a very cool auto booklet from Topps Museum Collection. Love everything about this card !!

That's it for today, thanks for visiting my blog today !!

Gallery of Greats !

I am late to the 2015 party, haven't opened any packs or boxes, unlike previous years. This mainly because I have been swamped and simply forgot to order some. So a redemption card was my first 2015 "fix", a fix a got through eBay. Normally delivery takes a few months but surprise, surprise, it arrived after only 2 weeks or so !! Here it is, Gallery of Greats !!

Beautiful card with a great on-card auto !! I am visiting the US in May so hopefully I can score some 2015 basecards there as this year's flagship actually looks pretty cool !

Thanks for visiting my blog today !

Topps Tek

Topps Tek, everyone was talking about it late last year and I had no clue what it was all about, having started collecting cards only a few years ago. So doing some research I found out that Topps Tek was actually a relaunch from the late 90ties. So being the Glavine collector I still am that meant chasing some 90ties cards ! Boy what a pile of variations these sets have ! This means hard work to try to complete them (so help is always appreciated!). Here are my first 2 find the differences :-)

Of course I also chase some of the 2014 Topp Tek's cards. Here's one of the Proof Prints, happy that I came across this one as there are not that many around :-)

The next card is an awesome Teknicians cards !!

That's it for now but clearly some long way to go to complete the Topps Tek sets !

Here's the laundry man !!

I like new things. I like a card with a piece of glove or even a piece of shoe (one of which I showed a few months ago). New stuff just keeps collecting a lot of fun. So combine a Glavine card with something new and I am game and will chase it !!

So meet my latest Glavine addition, a Topps Dynasty's Laundry's Tag (if that would be proper English !?). I have never seen anything like it so can really enjoy something like this !

You guys ever seen a laundry tag on a card ?

My first Dynasty !

Topps does make my life diffcult, being a Glavine collector and all. I bet they know I have the irresistable urge to collect all Glavine cards hence they apparently feel the urge to include Glavine cards in every high-end set that comes out these days !

Anyways, here comes Topps launching Dynasty with 8 different Glavine cards, all numbered to only 10. So my quest started to get my hands on some of them. Here's my first succes, meet Glavine card number  7 !!

Anyone else chasing the Dynasty cards or too high-end for your liking ?

A new Smoltz...and some Glavine of course !!

Another quick post today as I am still swamped in my "non-baseball card collecting" life ! Meet my latest Glavine & Smoltz auto, an awesome Topps Supreme. A shame about the sticker autos (can we please stopp with this Topps!!) but still !!

To complete today's post here's another Glavine card that I was recently able to add. A cool 2004 Upper Deck SP card !

Thanks for visiting my blog today !

More Wood !!

A few months back I was able to receive my first "wooden" card, a cool wooden mini of the Bert Blyleven Gypsy Queen card. Earlier this week I received my second wooden mini !! This time one for my main collection: Glavine !!!

Here it is !!

Love the look and feel of this one !! Any of you lucky enough to pull or own a wooden mini ??

A new 1/1 or a scam ??

Let's start with the good news today ! I scored another Glavine 1/1 !!!! The disappointing news, they tricked me in the process. In my rush to score the 1/1 on the cheap I didn't pay attention enough and didn't do any research into the card.

Here's the card. It clearly state it's a 1/1 right !! and I never saw this stamp before so it must be a rare one !!
Well, once you read the additional card that came with it (on the right) it became clear, this is just a guy with a stamp and he only stamps 1 Glavine card, hence it's a 1/1 !!!

In all fairness, there was a small screenshot of the additional card and some "hints" in the listing so I should have paid better attention. I guess these things happen in the life of a Glavine Supercollector !!

Although I only paid a few dollars for it the lesson clearly is, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is !!

You guys ever been tricked like this or am I only dealing with smart bloggers :-))

A quick trip to COMC !

Now and then I pay COMC a visit to score me some nice cards. I received a small package last week. Here's what I got !

First up, a 1990 Donruss Learning Series and a 1992 Diet Pepsi card. Both interesting cards I had never seen before. Makes you wonder what else is out there !

Next up, two nice additions to my quest to complete the 2011 Gypsy Queen Relic and Auto sets. Here's Henderson and Howard !

I found two more cool Glavine cards, both numbered to only 25 !!

Two 2011 GQ Autos in my quest to complete the set. Getting around completion on the low-end part of the set, the hard part will be the higher end ones :-))

Let's finish with two more cool cards, a Bowman Rizzo and a Great Gold Glavine !

That it for this round, thanks for visiting my blog today !!
