Leaving 2017 and entering 2018 !

I am still here !! Although clearly lacking the discipline and time to leave a regular post !! Still, I wanted to leave 2017 and enter 2018 with one last post, a quick overview from a recent COMC package ! Happy New Year everyone !!

Again happy new year and I am fairly confident my posting frequency should go up in 2018 as is will be hard to be as low as 2017 ! Hope all of you are doing well and still happily collecting !!

A day of One on Ones !

This morning I received a package in the mail. Only one place this package could come from, as my trading has been very, very slow, and that's CheckOutMyCards ! COMC has been my standard mailbox in the US to receive my eBay loot and although it has been slow in recent months I was still able to collect a bunch of cool cards for my collection.

Here's what was in the package and let's focus on a huge collection of One-on-Ones ! First up, a cool Panini Pantheon card. A card with a button ! My 2nd button card after the 2014 Panini National Treasurers card of Glavine. Always a welcome variety versus all the jersey and bat cards.

Next up, two 2008 Moments & Milestones. The sporadically pop-up on eBay and if the price is decent I try to get them. I still have some 275 or so to go :-)

I was also able to get my hands on a cool 2017 Topps Tribute 1/1, pictured below. A really beautiful card. The Topps High Tek printing proof from 2014 is my second one of this series.

Lastly, two more 1-1s, a printing plate from the 2014 Panini Hall of Fame Baseball set (Magenta priting plate). Furthermore, a 2004 SP Authentic card, a set in which apperently there are a few 1-1s for several "events", this one for 15th April 2003.

That's it. Never opened a package with 7x 1-1s so really happy about it. I updated and checked my file and I now just passed the 2,250 different Glavine cards mark, representing some 31% of all different Glavine cards. As I own 47% of all Auto cards and 38% of all relic cards I should be able to lift the average to 40% or so by simply expanding Glavine's non auto/relic cards. Looking at the 1-1s, I now have some 15% of all Glavine 1-1s. A lot of statistics but love to track the numbers !!

Hope you all are doing well !

Happy New Year !!

Happy New Year everyone !!! Yes, a few days late but as you might have figured I am still swamped with a lot of other stuff, hence my lack of posting in the last few months. Just wanted you all to know I am still here, alive and kicking, and more importantly, collecting !!

My Glavine collection has been steadily growing, as has my Blyleven collection. Kershaw is still on the way out (but still plenty for sale / trade so see my Kershaw list). I am behind with my Want list and Trade Bait as I still need to add my 2016 Gypsy Queen loot as well as 2016 Series 1& 2 and my Allen & Ginter needs. Hopefully I will have some time in the coming weeks to get up to speed on this one !!

Hope you are all still going strong ! Rest assure (in case you were worried, of course) that I am still following your blogs on a daily basis !!

As every posts needs some cards here are some of my latest additions ! First up a nice addition to my Glavine collection with Carlton and Zito as a bonus !

Next up, from this year's Panin's Immaculate, here's Blyleven, together with some old stars !

Last, but certainly not least, 2 Allen & Ginter printing plates, Magenta and Yellow !!

Thanks for visiting my blog and sticking with me !! Hope to be back soon !!

New plates !!

I have a thing for printing plates. I like the idea that they were actually used to print the cards were are chasing and only a few are around. They feel kinda special !! I was able to pick up to two in recent weeks. Let's start with one from one of my two favourite sets, Gypsy Queen !!

Here's a cool Dealing Aces Sabathia !! Really like the look and feel of this card/plate !

My second plate was for my most important collection: Glavine !! An older one from 2007 Topps Chrome. Doesn't look as nice as the Sabathia but hey.....it's a Glavine card/plate !!

That's it for today, some cool additions, hope to get my hands on some more in the future !!!

A Printing Plate Mystery !!

Oke everyone, I need your insights !! I recently picked-up a cool Glavine printing plate. Being a Glavine collector I assumed that whatever Printing plate I come across I still need for my collection. So when the package arrived I was excited and loaded my spreadsheet. Interestingly enough, my speadsheet indicated I already owned it. Of course I checked right away and yes, I already owned a copy, leaving me with 2 Cyan Printing Plates like the one below.

Any thoughts on how this is possible ? I always figured these were 1/1s ?

2 new A&G plates !!!

I love Allen & Ginter, I love the inserts, I love the base set and I loved how they "frame" stuff. I found 2 A&G printing plates which were nicely framed, A&G style !! Both from one of my favourite Pitchers, Kershaw !! One Yellow and One Black, One of the base mini and One of the extended mini !!

Two cool additions to my Kershaw collection !!

Printing Plates !

With Tom Glavine being the center of my collection I tend to chase any card I see that is not in my collection (to a certain price limit of course). Same thing for printing plate. Some see them as "cards" but luckily, also a lot of collectors seem to ignore them which makes it a little easier to get my hands on these 1-1 cards (or 4-1 cards as some see them). With Topps Triple Threads out I was able to add 2 more to my collection, meet the Magenta and the Cyan versions !!

Furthermore, I recently got my hands on another 2008 Moments & Milestones plate, a Cyan version as one of the above !

Do you guys chase the printing plates as well for your collection or simply ignore them ?

Another Glavine 1/1 and some Goudey !

Well, it's probably a 1 out of 4 or 5 as usually more printing plates for the same card exist. The version I was able to pick up was a nice Yellow one of the 2007 Fleer Ultra set.

In addition I was lucky enough to get my hands on another cool Glavine Autograph card, a 2008 Upper Deck Goudey !!

Received a 1/1 printing plate twice !

Printing Plates....I am not a huge collector of printing plates...they have something cool but at the same time they don´t look nice...so sometimes I feel like chasing them and sometimes I don´t feel like chasing them at all. A few weeks back I was in a `let´s chase this printing plate` mood. I actually noticed 2 printing plate of Tom Glavine (who else!) which seem to be attractively priced. These were sold by different sellers.

Both arrived last week. Here they are !

Only when they arrived and when I looked closely I noticed that they seem to be for the same card, 2002 Fleer Box Score !! I always thought that these printing plates were #1/1 but all of a sudden I had 2, from different sellers in a timespan of a week, talk about coincidence !! It seems to me that the second one has been heavily used and probably replaced by the first one after a while !

So another printing plate for my Glavine collection. Let´s chase the actual card that was printing by them as I noticed I don´t even own the card itself yet !!

A Box of 2012 Finest !

During my visit at the LCS in Las Vegas I couldn't resist picking-up at least one hobby box. They didn't have a wide range of recent boxes but I noticed a box of Finest so I went for that one ! Last year I tried to complete the base set (still a few to go) and I think I am gonna try the same this year so one hobby box was going to be a good start.

The first hit came right away, a signed printing plate of Devin Mesoraco of the Reds, so yep, that one is going to the trade bait section.

The second auto was an auto/relic combination of Yonder Alonso of the Padres, a cool looking card numbered to #/199.

As with Topps Chrome, Finest also has die-cut cards and I like them all. Here are two of my favourite pitchers, Kershaw and Verlander !

A Jeter orange variation was also present (#/99) as was a green Uggla refractor (#/199)

Yu Darvish made a great start this year in the MLB, Cano is on a roll as well in recent weeks (I wrote this on Saterday afternoon so let's hope he continued the momentum this weekend!).

Lastly, I pulled one of the "Game Changers" inserts as well. Here's Andrian Gonzalez.

All in all a fun break and I am certainly chasing the base set of Finest this year so in case you have any available let me know !!

A&G's Red Auto, Printing Plate and more...

As most of you know, I have not been a long time baseball card collector (like most of you) but I only started collecting last year. Since then I have bought several boxes, just to get a feel for what's out there these days and to see which products I like. One of the products I like a lot is Allen & Ginter given its great look and feel. Today I just wanted to share some of the nice pulls I had from the few 2008, 2010 & 2011 boxes I opened in recent months. The first great pull is a nice Auto of Matt Kemp, really like the look of this card !

My second great pull was a Tom Glavine relic card, not a super special card for most of you I guess but for me it brings back some good memories as Tom almost threw a no-hitter in the first baseball game I attended in 2004 against the Rockies.

From the 2010 set I pulled my first ever printing plate !! Never pulled one after that and it's not even a baseball player but still it's always special to pull a 1/1 printing plate !!

From the 2011 set I have pulled some fun stuff, two very nice cards in particular. Firstly, my only red auto out of the A&G set, a 6/10 red auto of Ranger Josh Hamilton !

Furthermore, another non-baseball card but one of a boxer, Pacquiao !!

Thanks for checking out my best A&G pulls. Later this week I will share with you my best non-A&G pulls so stay tuned !
