Cards from Stealing Home arrive !

A fun package arrived today in my mailbox ! A while back, when lauching my new Trade Bait page, Oscar (or Stealing Home as you might him) from All Trade Bait, All The Time showed interest in one of my Matt Kemp serial numbered cards. So after mailing a bit back and forth we came to a good deal for the both of us. This was waiting for me today:

Two nice additions to my Tom Glavine collection !

 ...and a nice 2011 Topps Finest Robinson Cano card (still need some more of this set so if you have any spares check out the details on my Want List!)

To my surprise, Stealing Home added some bonus cards which included a nice selection of Yankees, I like'em so check them out !

New Trade Bait !

2 weeks or so ago I officially launched my Trade Bait page. This weekend, I went through some more boxes of cards and noticed several that qualify for my Trade Bait page, as they are all serial numbered, so I have included them today. Here's what I found:

First up three cards from 2005 Playoff Prestige, Akinori Otsuka (#/100), Brett Myers (#/150) and Rafael Furcal (#/25)

Two cards from 2004 Donruss Elite, Jim Rice (#/1000) and Mike Piazza (#/500, only found this one today or else I would have included it in a recent Piazza trade)

A nice Upper Deck Spectrum card of Carlos Beltran (Orange, #/399)

2007 Topps Turkey Red Chrome Francisco Rodriguez (#/1999)

Lastly, Jose Guillen in the Jersey of the Anaheim Angels (#/100)

My First NYY Auto !!

As many of you might know already, I am fairly new to the scene of baseball card collecting (but already hooked and loving it!). Today my collection reached another milestone: My first autograph card of a player on my favorite team, the Yankees (yes, I know a lot of people really "dislike" the Yankees, to put it mildly, but for me they have something special!). This morning the mailman delivered this beauty...

A great Ivan Nova 2012 Topps Tribute autographed card (although not sure what to make of his signature). I really like the Topps Tribute set this year and have been chasing some more cards from this set. Still, this was my first big succes ! Being a card of a pitcher makes it even better for me. I wasn't expecting to win this but apparently only a few bidders were around and/or they weren't paying enough attention. Me overpaying for this one is of course not an option in my mind (or that's what I keep telling myself!)

At the same time, another pitcher arrived at my doorstep this morning, #1 in the Yankees line-up, CC Sabathia. The black variation of the base cards (serial numbered to 60), I really like this one as well and scored the Rivera last week.

I hope I can get my hands on some more Topps Tribute but for now I am already very happy having my first Yankees Auto in my collection ! Hopefully more will follow in the future !

Masterpieces set

One of the sets I like the most up to now is the 2008 Upper Deck Masterpieces set. A few months ago I arranged some boxes with the help of Robert at $30 a week habit. I think the cards in the set really look great ! Have a look at these...

I really like this set, including its brown and black variations (even pulled a brown Greg Maddux variation, #/5 !!). What do you guys think about the 2008 Masterpieces set ?

More Trade Bait !

Digging through some piles of cards I found some more trade bait to add to my new Trade Bait Page ! A nice 2011 Topps Tier One Relic card of Ubaldo Jimenez...

Lastly, also adding a Ron Calloway card I got through one of the box break I participated in (serial numbered to #1000).

Rivera Tribute Arrives !

Last week I showed you a 2009 Topps Tribute Relic card of Hanley Ramirez (check post here). I really like the look & feel of the Topps Tribute series. That's why I started checking eBay for some of my favorite players in the 2012 Topps Tribute set (buying one of these hobby boxes is not really an option for me given the high price point). Of course the first player for me to chase was Mariano Rivera and today the first card arrived !!

A great black version of the Mariano Rivera card (#/60), a nice thick classy card. Seeing the cards in front of me and feeling the cards makes me want to chase this set further, or at least the players I collect....so stay tuned for more of Topps 2012 Tribute in the coming weeks (I hope!).

Box Break Alert !

Just a short post from my side as I am busy packing my bags for a quick trip to London. Many of you will know Colbey with his fun blog Cardboard Collections. What many of you might not know is that Colbey is organizing another of his "Affordable Box Breaks" and he really means affordable as it's only $9.50 for 2 teams !

This time he is opening the following hobby boxes: 1995 Topps Finest Update, 1997 Topps Screenplays & 1999 Pacific Invincible. Personally I have never seen these boxes been openend (but hey, I am fairly new to the hobby) so I am really looking forward to the break.

He still has several spots availble with some of the big name teams not yet being claimed so check out his blog and sign-up here !
