Breaking a box of Diamond Kings !!

My visit to Big League Cards in Orlando also resulted in a box of 2015 Diamond Kings (by Panini). Despite the lack of official logo I think this is a great set and will try to complete it including all minis ! Still loads to go as I only brought one box home with me. Let's check out the box shall we !!

Let's start with a quick look at the 200-card base set which consists of current players, Hall of Famers as well as Rookies. I really like the look and feel of these base cards ! Have a look yourself at Chapman and Kershaw !!

Like with Gypsy Queen, this set also comes with "framed" cards such as the ones below. There are regular ones and numbered SPs. The Cano is numbered to /99.

Like GQ and A&G the set also has minis !! I love minis !! Although the checklist has loads of them, my hobbybox only contained 2 minis....so I guess this is going to be a difficult chase to complete the minis set !!

Diamond Kings also has several inserts included. Here's one of them, DK Originals with Abreu and Ichiro !

Another insert set is the "also known as", here with Ortiz and Pujols !

Another of the insert sets is "Aficionada", here with Harper and Puig !

The final insert set is HoF Sluggers, here Bench and Killebrew !

Each hobby box also contains one auto card and one relic card. Mine were Dalton Pompey (have you heard of him yet because I don't know the guy to be honest) and Nick Castellanos ! Nice looking cards although I am always annoyed with sticker-autos.

That's it for a nice box of Diamond Kings. I really like the set and have set my goals on completing the set, including the minis and inserts !!

Diamond King Draft Loot !

I recently participated in a fun card draft organized by Kevin at the Diamond King. This week a nice pile of cards arrived !! Although I couldn't resist some Glavines I also scored a bunch of cool vintage cards and these vintage cards are gradually growing on me so happy to have received some more from this draft !

Well, let's first start with the Glavines ! One cool relic card, Upper Deck Timeline, and his Score Rookie card !

The package included some more cool pitchers, here's Sabathia and Seaver, both numbered !

Let's move to the vintage !! One of the 1957 Pirates and 1969 Marichal Scratch Off card, I like these vintage cards !

 Two great looking 1964 Topps cards ! I don't know these players so something for me to research !

These are the oldest cards of the lot, 1952 Mothers Coockies ! I clearly need to start doing some research on these vintage sets, never heard of these !

Another cool vintage card, really like the look of this Topps set from 1960 !

Let's finish off this post with a Yankee as (sarcastic mode on) I know you all love the Yankees (sarcastic mode off) !! a cool numbered Munson Donruss Classic card !

All in all a fun draft so looking forward to the next one !! Thanks Kevin !!

Trade with the Diamond King !

I am still catching up with all the trades I have done in recent weeks. One of these cool trades was with Kevin at the Diamond King. He contacted me recently as I had some Diamond Kings in my trade bait and things progressed quickly from there. In the end a great package arrived at my doorstep last week. Below some of the cool cards that were included. I am a bit busy at the moment so little comments, just nice cards for you to look at !!

Kevin send me a wide variety of cool cards. Let's start with 2 of my favourite pitchers: Verlander and Glavine !

Sabathia also had a spot in the line-up ! I really like the Topps Gold Label set !

All in all, the package included many more great cards. Thanks Kevin for a great trade !!

1000th Yankees card !!

This weekend my first ever package from COMC arrived. I have been checking out that site for a while now and recently pulled the trigger and selected some great Yankees cards. The envelop that arrived this weekend included several awesome Mariano Rivera cards and while doing the admin Zistle told me I just entered my 1,000th Yankees card in the system, another milestone in my, still short, baseball collecting career !! Well, to be honest, I still have plenty of boxes and binders lying around that need to be put into Zistle but oke, seeing the ticker going above 1,000 was a nice feeling !

The card that did the trick was a great card, a 2005 Donruss Diamond Kings Crowning Moments card of my favorite player, Mariano Rivera !! A green parallel, so serial numbered to #50.
