Another Trade with Frankie !

A few weeks ago Frankie at My Life in the Sports Card Hobby contacted my for a trade as he was interested in one of my Chipper Jones relic cards. Of course a trade was quickly born, our second trade already in a few months time. With lightning speed Frankie's package arrived at my doorstep and here's what he send me !!

First-up, the key part of the trade, a cool Mike Schmidt auto cards. I didn't own any of his autographs and for some reason I had the urge to have one for my collection so Frankie helped me out here !!

I like what Panini did with National Treasures, hope they can keep it up !! Frankie also send me a bunch of Rivera cards !!

A couple more for today's quick post ! A nice Sabathia relic card and a Pat Corbin card. This one came from left field as I do like the Immaculate set but I don't really have a clue who this guy is !

Thanks Frankie for a cool trade !

Here come the Cubs !!

Looking at some of the Spring Training games and seeing some new talent coming through the Cubs look an exciting team this year and potentially for a few years to come ! For a few years now I have been collecting Rizzo cards and it seems he will continue to be a key parts of the Cubs going forward, despite all the new talent coming up. Here's Rizzo with some April Powers !! Let's hope he can display that this year as well !!

You all excited for the Cubs this year as well !?

Something Leaf

Quick post today with my first Winfield Auto from the Leaf set "Sports Heroes". Luckiloy it was a cheap one as the auto is not great looking to be honest. At the same time, the used bat compensates a bit for that !

Anyone of you looked at the new Leaf sets recently ?

Getting myself some letters !

As some of you might remember, I use to chase the 2009 Upper Deck Icons Letters of Clayton Kershaw, back when they were still affordable, getting as far as 8 letter cards ! Now Panini issued something similar in last year's Immaculate set, "Nameplate Nobility" cards. Glavine was included in the set as well so I clearly had a job to do. I only found one so far.....here it is, meet the letter L !!!

If you come across one of these let me know as I still have a lot of letters to go on this one !!

Thanks for visiting my blog today !

My first Glavine button !!

Years ago I pulled my first "button" card, a 2009 Chipper Jones "button" card, one I still own for when a cool trades calls for it. Last year, Panini issues, to my knowledge, the only button card on the Glavine checklist. Of course I obliged and chased it ! Luckily some week ago I was able to get my hands on one and here it is. This first Glavine Button card !!

What do you guys think about "button" cards, you own any ?

Verlander & Upton

Some of you might remember my post discussing the jump in Kershaw prices versus Verlander prices, basically it was all about me complaining that chasing Kershaw cards was getting too pricy. Well, the flip side of that argument was that Verlander prices were coming down hard. Trying to benefit from this I bid on the cool card below and to my surprise I won this one fairly cheaply !!

I hope Verlander will turn things around this year !! Let's hope he won't be to distracted by ice creams this year !

Zippy Zapped again !

Last week I received another package from Kenny aka Zippy Zappy at Torren'Up Cards and an awesome package it was !! Before we move to the extra let's start with the cards !

I love Sega cards, would chase the full sets if I could get my hands on them more easily. Here's a nice one for my Dutch collection, Andrelton Simmons ! Another Dutch guy was included, Jonathan Schoop, when he was playing for the Delmarva Shorebirds (never heard of them so learning something new every day !).

The Flying Dutchman was included, a 1973 Topps card !! Love these vintage ones !!

Two great SP Authentic cards, DiMaggio and Yogi Berra !

Kenny even included some soccer cards !! These actually look pretty cool, never seen this set and I might actually start to chase some more. Can't imagine these can be found in the US to be honest.

Two  auto cards were in the pack as well. Although Kevin already moved to the Tigers, Cito Culver could still make a promissing Yankee in the future !!

Kenny also included an awesome Posada relic card !

Some other stuff was included in the big package as well. I even received a discount brochure in case I, will ever, visit the Louisville Museum & Factory ! No plans yet but who knows !!

Lastly, Kenny included 2 cool papers of Yankees' Staten Island team. Impossible to get my hands on these in Europe so this is awesome ! Going to read them soon and see what's happening !

Kenny, thanks a bunch !!  A return package is on it's way !!
