Vegas Time !

So apparently, there seems to be an annual card show conference in Las Vegas. It would make sense to do that in Vegas, I have attended several conference there as well (in a completely different field sadly enough) and for that it is an excellent location. During this card show they apparently also issue exclusive cards, one of which is a Glavine card. Everyone who knows me knows that this mean that the chase for this card is on !!

After a couple of months of watching out for this card I saw an opportunity to get one for a reasonable price so I of course jumped all over it. The card arrived recently and here it is !!

Any of you have any of these Vegas Summit cards ?

Thanks for visting my blog today !

Mize, DiMaggio and Mantle !!

In the last few years I have been trying to complete the 2011 Topps Tier One Top Shelf relic set, a huge task given the high-end players that were included in the set. In recent months I was able to add a few to my collection.

The first one is Johnny Mize who played in the 30ties and 40ties for teams like the Cardinals.

Next up is Joe DiMaggio, my one and only Joe DiMaggio relic card !!

Last, and certainly not least, is my one and only Mickey Mantle relic card !!

Very happy with these additions, in particular the Mantle and DiMaggio cards !! Still, loads more to go before I have complete this quest including the Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig cards so wish me luck !

Thanks for visiting my blog today and if you have any of the 2011 Topps Tier One Top Shelfs available let me know !!

Verlander !

Despite Verlander giving up A-Rods's 3000th hit last week I still try to chase some of his cards now and then. As discussed in an earlier post, his cards have become much much cheaper compared to a few years back, let's say in the pre-Kate period when he was still throwing no-hitters. As a result, I was able to get my hands on a few cool cards fairly easily !! Here's the first one !

Meet my cool Premier Patches card from the 2007 UD Premier set !

In addition, I was able to score a cool autographed card from 2007 Topps Co-Signers, together with Papelbon (the upper one, pretty ugly right ?).

All in all some cool additions to the Verlander collection, one that has been on the background in the last 12-24 months while focussing more on my core 4 (Glavine, Rizzo, Kershaw and Blyleven). Can it be that I let me collecting behavior is influenced by the success of the players....I let you be the judge !

To finish off I know that some of you only read a Verlander post just to get a glimpse of Kate so let me not disappoint you !

Rizzo: The Letter "R" !

Quick post today with my latest Rizzo card. Meet the letter R from Panini's Immaculate Collection. Four more letters to go, a huge quest given they are numbered to only 5 !

Anyone of you ever completed a players name with these types of cards ?

Some Yankees Vintage !

A while back I noticed some autographed vintage cards of several, for me unknown, Yankees. One of those was of Bob Carv, a Yankees outfielder in the 50ties and 60ties. So for only a few dollars I was able to get my hands on this beauty, a signed Topps 1956 card !!

Apparently, Bob Cerv was an outfielder that played for the Yankees on and off. The first time between 1951 and 1956, the second time in 1960 and his third run during the 1961-1962 season. In between these periods he had a short stint with the Dodgers and the Kansas City Athletics. Bob was an All-Star in 1958 and was part of the Yankees team that won the World Series in 1956. All in all it seems like he had a fun career by the looks of it.

Hope to score some more of these Vintage cards in the future !

Trade with another Dutch Collector !!

Recently I discovered there are more like me in the Netherlands ! More Baseball card collectors ! I was contacted by Milan who had discovered my blog. With Dutch baseball card collectors being a rarity I jumped at the opportunity to do a "local" trade !! A package from Milan arrived recently with some cool cards.

Let's start with some minis !!! Allen & Ginter Minis !! Yes, it's Snoooopppp ! Snoop Lion as he calls himself these days (or did he change his name already to something else...).

Milan also included one of the inserts, Hendry Hudson, the inspiration for the Hudson River and Hudson Strait (says the back of the card!).

More mini inserts, here's one of the World's Deadliest Predators ! Luckily no snakes here in Holland...

More Ginter !! One of the Coincidence cards and a cool Natural Wonder !

Milan also included one of the Series 1 inserts. I still needs lots so these presidents were very welcome !

All in all a great pack of cards, thanks a bunch Milan, looking forward to a next trade !!

Topps Delivers again, nr 241 !!

I am starting to like Topps' Redemption Program. Yes, call me crazy but hey, they ship for free to the Netherlands and they have not (yet) failed to deliver. A few days ago another Topps package arrived at my doorstep with an awesome card. A cool red parallel Gypsy Queen card, numbered to only 5 !!

To my surprise my excel file claims this is actually already my 241st Glavine Auto card...a shocking number when I think about it. This implies also that I now own a copy of 35% of the Glavine auto cards that were ever made so not even half-way !

Anyways, the quest continues ! Thanks for visiting my blog today !

Trade package from France

When I mention "France" most of the blogosphere these days immediately thinks about Kevin at the Card Papoy. He is making quite a name for himself with some cool trades. A few weeks back he showed some interested in an auto I pulled from this year's Diamond Kings and a trade was quickly born !

Here's what Kevin send me ! Let's start off with the cool cards, a very nice Yogi Berra Finest and a cool Rivera Hometown Heroes !

Two cool Dream Moments were included, never seen this set and think it's actually pretty good !

Glavine was included !! Any package with a Glavine card is a good one !!

Kevin also included a few Mattingly cards, Like the look and feel of both of these !

The "hit" of the package was a cool Sabathia relic card from last year's Panini Immaculate !

Of course, Kevin also hit me with a Bierber card ! Clearly, I will forward this pleasure to someone else in the coming period :-))

Thanks Kevin for a cool trade, looking forward to the next one !!

Trip to the Wallmart, part 2 !!

In the previous post I showed you the first few packs I scored at the local Wallmart, today it's time for the last 2, a 2015 Donruss and a 2015 Heritage !

Let's kick-off with Heritage. All you will see, except the Kershaw, are for trade !!

The Greinke card is a chrome parallel, numbered to /566 ! One more Heritage card which is a cool Flashback one, Willie Mays !!

I also opened a pack of 2015 Donruss, not the greatest set but it does include some nice cards. Here are the best ones ! Again, all for trade !

These "The Rookies" cards look pretty cool, although the lack of logo is a bit annoying....

That's it for the trip to the Wallmart. I had fun opening the packs, sadly enough mostly trade bait but still, it was fun !
