A Pastime Booklet !

Panini Pastime was one of the best newly launched sets in 2013 if you ask me. I already picked up a Glavine/Maddux relic booklet a while back but recently noticed a cool Glavine auto booklet together with Steve Avery. Here it is, my 58th Glavine auto !!

This one is numbered to only 20 although I have seen versions numbered to /5, /10 and a few more so I might need to chase some more !

Anyone knows Pastime Cards ?

So I picked up a signed Blyleven thinking it was part of Panini Pastime, given the Pastime title. However, when it arrived the Panini logo was nowhere to be found and the card indicated 2013 Pastime Collection: Enshired Edition. It also indicated a website: www.pastimecards.com

Here is the card, back and front !

Anybody knows Pastime cards ??

A New Awesome Glavine Mini !!

Recently a new Glavine mini popped up, a really cool one in my view and only numbered to 25 ! So I decided to contact the seller and we came to a cool deal. It arrived on my doorstep a few days ago !! Here it is, a 1989 mini with a new Relic !

This brings my Glavine count to the following:

At 18% now so loads more to go...I love this chase !! If you have any Glavines lying around let's set up a trade !

Opening a Pinnacle Box

I recently came across Pinaccle. Apparently, Panini decided to bring this brand to life and I decided to follow their lead and break one box. Are you curious yet...here we go !!

Each box has two "hits", here are mine, John Axford and Miguel Montero, not sure if I have seen them play, don't really know them...

The base cards are pretty plain, here's Kershaw and Rizzo !

Two more base cards, Rivera and Profar (playing for the Dutch team).

Let's have a look at some inserts, here's Kershaw again and Dickey !

Four more inserts ! These clear vision cards are cool. Slugfest and the Naturals aren't bad either !

I like the Swing for the Fences inserts as well, pretty cool cards !

Two more inserts to finish the box overview !

All in all I think Panini did a pretty good jump revamping Pinnacle ! Got a bunch of them available for trade !

Series 1 arrives across the pond - Box 3 !!

Today's it's time to have a quick look at box 3. After the last two boxes had cool hits that fit my collection I was in luck again. Here's Simmons, one of the players of the Dutch team !

More Greats !!

Another Puig and a cool "Dutch" Profar ! I like these inserts !

More minis including Verlander !!

I love vintage, so here are two more ! Really love the Phillies team card, looks "vintage" to me !

More gold parallels, all for trade !

Upper Class !

More red parallels, all for trade !

Let's finish with another black parallel, also for trade (although I lack a good Marlins trade partner!)

That's it for this year's Series 1, all in all I had fun, and pulled a cool Glavine auto ! With that 2014 has begun !!

Series 1 arrives across the pond - Box 2 !!

After a Glavine hot box earlier let's have a quick look at box 2 ! Let's start with the "hit" of the box, again a "hit" that's a keeper. Pettitte !!

Here's Maddux and Rice, still for me the best inserts of this year's series 1 !

More vintage, I love these vintage cards !!

More Upper Class, including a cool Verlander !

More minis !!

Puig !! or at least he seems to be hot, hot, hot in collector's land these past 12 months. I prefer to stick with my pitchers but happy to own a Puig card now :-)

More gold parallels, all for trade !

Red parallels, all for trade !!

Lastly, another black parallel numbered to only 63 !

Stay tuned for box 3 later this week !

Series 1 arrives across the pond - Box 1 !!

My traditional start of the card collector year is to break 3 boxes of Series 1. A few days ago they finally arrived after seeing most of you already talking about it for 2 weeks or so on your blogs. therefore, I won't bore you with the base cards and will focus on the hits and inserts. Today it's time for box 1 and what a box it was !!! I have never had a "hit" of a player I actually collected so I was amazed and shocked when the hit of box 1 was a Glavine card, an auto Glavine card, an auto Glavine card numbered to only 50 and a beauty !!! Here it is !!! I like these Upper Class cards, especially when they have an Glavine auto on them !!

The best inserts this year, in my humble opinion, are the "before they were great". Here's Jackson and Garciaparra !

As said before, the Upper Class inserts are cool ! Look, another Glavine !!

Minis, I always love minis, even when a silly thing sticking out like this year's minis..and look, another Glavine !!

Vintage, I think this is Topps best "innovation" of 2014 and we are only in February !! I love finding some vintage cards "hidden" in between these 2014 base cards. My only small comment would be that they should have "butchered" these vintage cards by putting a Topps stamp on it, in my view at least.

I like these inserts as well, and look a guy playing for the Dutch team, Profar ! Twice !
Parallels, last year with had greenies, this year we have red. I really don't like them much but will still collect any parallel of the players I collect. All cards below are for trade !

Gold parallels were present as well, all for trade !

Lastly, one black parallel numbered to only 63, also for trade, preferably for the Kershaw to 63 :-)

That was box 1, a Glavine hot box !! All in all can't complain about this year's Series 1. Box 2 and 3 later this week !
