2 New Additions: Sabathia & Glavine !

A quick post tonight with two cool additions to my player PCs, one of Glavine (who else!) and a nice Sabathia one that I was actually able to get for a very reasonable price (the cheapest CC auto I have come across in a long time!). I also like Glavine's Topps Platinum one, although I am not sure why these are called "uncirculated" as clearly someone brought them into circulation and 149 of these were made...

That's it for today ! In case anyone can help me with the "uncirculated" mystery leave a comment!

More Minis !!

More Minis arrived !! A while ago I decided to chase the Allen & Ginter and Gypsy Queen Minis. Two weeks ago I also added my Topps Minis Want List. Since then I have been trying to trade and grow my Minis set and have been looking for cheap Minis on eBay as well. One package arrived earlier this week with a bunch of GQ minis (Straight Cut back). Here are a few !

I love these Minis !! If you have Minis to trade let me know and let's trade !!

A goodbye package...

I have only been in the hobby since last year and started my blog earlier this year. One of the people that really helped me a lot has been Kyle at Juuust a bit Outside and he has become one of my best baseball card friends. In general I feel that the blogosphere has been great to me and makes collecting baseball cards much, much more fun. That why I was a bit sad that Kyle said goodbye to the blogosphere a while back. Luckily we (myself and all of you) were traded in for more family time so that I could accept (all kidding aside, important choices have to be made in life and clearly Kyle made an important one as family should be on the top of everyones list, at least in my humble opinion).

So why are we talking about Kyle, "out of sight out of mind" right ? Well, he actually send me a great "goodbye" (for now) package full of cool cards !!

Let's start with two of my favourite pitchers, Rivera and Verlander, really love these Finest cards !

My first Topps Minors cards, some cool Rays and Yankees prospects !

Kyle also send me a awesome Glavine card which initially he bid for me on eBay. A really cool card with pieces of his bat, jersey, shoe and glove. Or at least let's assumes these were his (which isn't that clear after all the discussions in recent days).

I love UD Masterpieces and I have the 2008 set almost complete. Don't have much yet from the 2007 set so these are great !

This is a great set as well, Fleer E-XL, really nice looking cards, here's Bernie and Andy !

Let me show you 2 more, although the package contained dozens more ! Here are two cool Jeter cards, love both of them and had never seen these "action packed" cards.

Thanks so much Kyle for your support, you have been a great friend ! I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy the family and life !

.....and for everyone else, stay put, don't leave, I mean it, we have some trading to do !!

Some Affordable loot !

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to participate in one of Colbey's fun affordable group breaks at Cardboard Collections. Colbey was opening up a bunch of Topps Stadium Club boxes from various years and I was lucky enough to get the Yankees.

Firstly, I scored several of the Mickey Mantle cards, I think they look very cool !

I also scored a few Yankees pitchers, Pettitte and my favourite, Rivera ! They both look young don't they :-)

Some Mattingly's were included as well...I like the Broadway Stars cards

Colbey included some great Glavines in the package ! Awesome, thanks Colbey !

Furthermore, Colbey included some Masterpieces, I really love that set ! One more to go (nr 94) and I have it complete !

All in all another fun break with lots of cool cards ! Thanks again Colbey, looking forward to the next one !!

Topps Minis, Box 3 !

Today a quick overview of box 3 of 2012 Topps Minis ! First-up another silver-bordered one numbered to only 5 !! This time it was Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies ! I also very much like the Rizzo base card, simply because I was lucky enough to be at his debut for the Cubs during my visit to the US earlier this year (he impressed a lot of people, including me, that game).

As with box 1 & 2, this one also included 5 gold-bordered minis, numbered to 61. These were the ones in box 3........

and finally, the hit of box 3.....another relic card.....it's Brandon Beachy of the Braves

Overall, Topps did a good job with Topps mini and I hear they are sold out and only some resellers have some availability. Hopefully they will have minis available next year as well !
As I indicated yesterday, I have decided to try to complete the set so if you are chasing the minis as well and/or have some spares let's trade !!!

These are the ones I still need (after all 3 boxes): 7, 8, 15, 16, 24, 29, 58, 60, 66, 72, 81, 85, 89, 91, 93, 94, 98, 99, 101, 102, 104, 107, 112, 114, 116, 118, 123, 129, 131, 134, 143, 163, 164, 175, 181, 182, 211, 219, 220, 230, 240, 244, 245, 246, 249, 250, 252, 253, 254, 257, 258, 260, 261, 264, 266, 270, 272, 276, 287, 297, 308, 310, 311, 319, 321, 322, 353, 359, 365, 371, 374, 377, 379, 380, 381, 384, 385, 387, 388, 389, 391, 394, 396, 399, 401, 408, 410, 412, 422, 441, 442, 451, 452, 469, 487, 492, 496, 499, 501, 505, 507, 508, 509, 512, 513, 515, 518, 519, 522, 523, 526, 533, 536, 541, 550, 551, 570, 571, 578, 579, 591, 607, 608, 615, 621, 624, 627, 632, 634, 635, 636, 637, 638, 639, 644, 645, 647, 649, 650, 653, 658.

Topps Minis Box 2

Yesterday I should you Topps Minis Box break 1 with a 1/1 printing plate, a silver Strasburg and an awesome Frank Robinson Auto. Let's see today  if box 2 can come close to box 1 !!

First up 2 base cards, with the flagship product I think they were short-printed, or at least the Harper was (still looking for that one) so very happy to have pulled both !! Haper has been hyped a lot, and it seems hated by many, but I actually like watching him play and I think he will be successfull for years to come !

Like box 1 this one also contained 5 gold-bordered cards numbered to 61. These were the ones I got....

My first numbered Topps Mini Yankees card ! The "hit" of the box wasn't an awesome auto like yesterday but still a fun relic card....Ian Kennedy

That was box number 2, check my blog tomorrow for box number 3 !

Topps Minis !! Box 1 with a big hit !

Just before my holiday break I decided to order 3 boxes of Topps Mini from the Topps site as I do like Minis a lot and it seemed like a fun break at a decent price. I finally had the chance to open these boxes last weekend and it was fun !! The first box immediately had some great stuff with the big hit at the end !! I won't show you the base cards as they are mostly the mini versions of the regular Topps base set.

First up a silver-bordered (numbered to only 5) of Strasburg ! A cool addition to my pitchers collection ! I hope at some point to get my hands on a silver Rivera, Kershaw, Sabathia, Lincecum or Verlander, time will tell !

In addition to silver-bordered variations Topps Mini also included gold-bordered minis, numbered to 61. Every box contains 5 gold-bordered cards. I pulled the following ones...

Then for the hits.....every box contains 1 "hit", be it an autographed card or a relic card. However, my first box included a bonus "hit" !!! A 1/1 Priting plate of Blue Jay Arencibia (probably going up for trade at some point).

and then for the hit of box number 1 ............ a Frank Robinson Auto !!!!!!! Very happy with this one and probably going to hold on for it for a while. I hope he is still in good healthy because his signature isn't as sharp anymore (not sure if it changed over time...).

All in all a fun break and stay tuned for a discussion of boxes 2 and 3 which also contained some fun cards.

I have decided to try to complete the set so if you are chasing the minis as well and/or have some spares let's trade !!!

These are the ones I still need (after all 3 boxes): 7, 8, 15, 16, 24, 29, 58, 60, 66, 72, 81, 85, 89, 91, 93, 94, 98, 99, 101, 102, 104, 107, 112, 114, 116, 118, 123, 129, 131, 134, 143, 163, 164, 175, 181, 182, 211, 219, 220, 230, 240, 244, 245, 246, 249, 250, 252, 253, 254, 257, 258, 260, 261, 264, 266, 270, 272, 276, 287, 297, 308, 310, 311, 319, 321, 322, 353, 359, 365, 371, 374, 377, 379, 380, 381, 384, 385, 387, 388, 389, 391, 394, 396, 399, 401, 408, 410, 412, 422, 441, 442, 451, 452, 469, 487, 492, 496, 499, 501, 505, 507, 508, 509, 512, 513, 515, 518, 519, 522, 523, 526, 533, 536, 541, 550, 551, 570, 571, 578, 579, 591, 607, 608, 615, 621, 624, 627, 632, 634, 635, 636, 637, 638, 639, 644, 645, 647, 649, 650, 653, 658.

eBay scam, advice needed !

In case you remember, 2 weeks ago I put out a post discussing my "won" 2012 Allen & Ginter Silk CC Sabathia (#/10). After I won the auction for a very good price the seller send me a message (not through eBay, clue #1) that the card was returned to him by the US postal service and that it was part of an accident which also destroyed the envelop as well as the card (remarkable story, hint #2?) !! For more details do check out my previous post on the matter. At the time I was a bit suspicious but I usually believe in the goodness of mankind (and the seller had 100% feedback) hence decided to believe it and accept the refund (what else could I do). Of course I rather would have received this card at the price I won it at but not much I could do about it.

As I am chasing these Silk A&G cards of my favourite players I kept checking eBay of course as there should still be 9 other version of the same kind somewhere on the globe. I think you know where I am going with this.....yes, the next one that popped-up was the same card, also numbered 8/10. Also the photo of the card was different hence this person (also with 100% feedback) did not simply copy the picture and set-up a scam auction. As I really wanted this card I decided to bid and won the auction. However, I now paid $20 more compared to the first auction.....

My thinking was, let's e-mail the first guy and ask him for a $20 paypal gift as he obviously sold the card to someone else for more, compared to what I won it for, in the mean time (and lied to me about it being destroyed). In return I can give him positive feedback on his auction. and move on. Hopefully I have the card in hand by the end of the week so I don't run any risk of the second guy holding on to the card and also refunding me the money (in case seller #1 and #2 have some sort of relationship).

The time for starting a dispute regarding auction 1 ends on the 14th so I need to decide fairly soon what to do. What do you guys think I should do in this case ? Although seller #1 refunded me the money, he did lie to me and in the end I am paying $20 more for the same card so I do feel this is not right....

Thanks !!

Ah, and here it is again...photo from seller 1

Here's the photo from seller 2...(photoshoped from seller 1's photo seems verty unlikely to me so I guess seller 2 has/had it in hand).
