Topps Delivers !!

A few months back I pulled a redemption, a Topps Chrome redemption. It was a Jose Abreu redemption and given all the hype this year (partly deserved of course) I decided to keep the redemption card and let Topps deliver the goods. Sooner than expected a Topps package arrived a few days ago with the Abeu card !! Here it is !!!

The refractor is numbered to 499 so not really rare but still a cool looking card with a cool autograph. I am probably keeping this one for now and see how he develops !!

With another smooth delivery from Topps I am actually beginning to like the redemption program, also because they ship for free, even to the Netherlands !!

Breaking a box of Chrome !!

Two weeks ago I was able to get my hands on a box of 2014 Topps Chrome !! I had never opened a box of chrome before so I was very excited !! Here's what I got !!

First up, two cool inserts, Harper and Tanaka !!

Two more cool cards, a David Price insert and a very cool black parallel...I love these black parallels, they have a great look and feel !!!

A couple of refractors were included as well, here's Santana and Aoki !

More inserts !! Cabrera and Ortiz !! These look pretty cool !

Two base cards, the dutch !!

Let's look at the "hits". My first one was a Yankee !! A Solarte RC !!

The best hit was a redemption card, one of Abreu, not too bad at all !!!!

That's it for my box of Chrome, let me know if you are looking for anything in particular from the Chrome set !!

Loot from Colbey !

Colbey at Cardboard Collections recently held one of his famous affordable group breaks, this time opening boxes of 2012 Topps Chrome. For once I was in-time to grab the Yankees (!!) while the randomizer gave the Twins to me as well. As I only collect Bert Blyleven (also in Twins uniform) all the other Twins cards are for trade so let me know in case you see anything you like !

Let's start with the hit of the break, or at least a hit that came my way. As it is a Twins cards its up for trade and it is a Chris Parmelee autographed RC card. I hope at least some of you have heard of him because I hadn't yet ! My favourite Yankees pitcher was included as well !

Two more Twins up for trade, a Morneau refractor and a Dozier RC Blue refractor (#/199)

I like these die-cut cards, here's one of Gardner together with a blue Rodriguez refractor (#/199)

Two more Twins Rookies, Benson and Hendriks (I need to start watching more Twins games, don't know any of these guys).

Last one is another Rodriguez refractor for my Yankees collection !

All in all another cool affordable group break by Colbey, do check out his blog as he usually has slots available in these breaks so don't miss it ! Thanks Colbey !

JABO Chrome Arrives

A few weeks ago, Kyle at Juuust a bit Outside (or JABO) organized a box break opening up a range of Topps Chrome set from various years. I was lucky enough to grab the Yankees and the randomizer gave me the Rays as well.

First up two serial numbered cards of which one was my favourite pitchers: Rivera !! Awesome card but still very annoying he is out for the season. I hope he comes back to have a "real" final season next year !

Next up, Wade Boggs and another Mariano Rivera card I didn't own yet !!

Bernie Williams in action !

The break wouldn't be complete without some cool Jeter cards. I like these !

Meet Tino Martinez and Joe Girardi during his playing these.

One of the several Mickey Mantle cards as well as agreat looking Wade Boggs card

Two golden oldies, great looking cards !

Bernies Williams and another Rivera card !!

Two more pitchers: Pettitte and Weaver

One of the great looking Star Power card: Wade Boggs and a nice Canseco card.

The best was still to come as Kyle offered a great Topps 1976 Lou Gehrig card in exchange for one of the cards he pulled for me during the break. Of course I couldn't refuse and received this great card, one of the first I now own from the 1976 set, a set which I am going to, more actively, chase at some point.

Kyle is holding another box break soon, opening a few boxes of 2012 Topps Archives. I think he still has one or two open spots so check out his site ! Thanks Kyle for another great break, looking forward to the next one !!

Girls on Cards and More !

So last week I was opening another yellow envelop and this is what I had to deal with........Colleen and Deanna !

and if that wasn't enough, there was more......meet Catherine and Terrie

So after staring at the cardboard for a minute (or more...and yes you may now stop staring as well !) I was trying to figure out who send me this envelop. Looking at the envelop's content some more (no not the girls above but the other cards!) it started to dawn on me, this was box break loot from Derek !! Derek at Tomahawk Chopping recently hosted a box break of Topps 2012 Opening Day and 2012 Heritage. I quickly grabbed the Yankees and Tigers and here's what I got !

First up, Topps 2012 Heritage

A couple of Tigers (up for trade) including a Verlander for my Verlander collection !! A great Prince Fielder card and a chrome Martinez (#563).

Furthermore, two of the Yankees set, Swisher and Jeter ! Derek also opened a box of Topps 2012 Openings Day

Two more additions to my Verlander collection !!

In addition, two of my favorite Yankee Pitchers, Rivera and Sabathia ! Derek also threw in some more cards including a bunch Topps Chrome cards, amongst others a purple Curtis Granderson (numbered to #499) and Cano (#1962)

In addition, several more cards including the following...

Always great to receive a Gypsy Queen card as I still need loads as I missed it last year !! Also like the Signature Star set. As if this was not enough Derek threw in two jersey cards, a Dontrelle Willis Artifacts card (#250), really like this Artifacts set, and Bowman Sterling Shinnosuke Abe card !

Derek, thanks very much for a fun break and the extra cards, really liked them !! Also, thanks for making me aware that there is also cardboard stuff with girls instead of baseball players, makes you wonder why we all chose to collect the baseball players (oke maybe we shouldn't try to answer this :-) !

Thanks everyone for visiting my blog again. and if you are that collector out there that collects this Benchwarmer set let me know !
