1976 Additions !!

One of the "vintage"  sets I am trying to complete is the Topps 1976 set, the set of the year in which I was born ! Calling this "vintage" is like calling myself "old" but hey, not much I can do about this I guess :-) Duane at Democratic Roadkill helped my out with a few new additions to my 1976 set. Still a long way to go so these were very welcome !!

Here are the first two, Mike and Tito swinging the bat !!

Love the 1976 Astros shirts !

Two more, a lot of mustaches in the 70ties !!

Those are the 6 new additions to my Topps 1976 set !! If you have any spare ones lying around let me know, always happy to set up a trade !!

Thanks for visiting my blog today !

Zippy Zap Trade !

A few days ago I received an awesome package, a package from Zippy Zappy Kenny at Cervinupcards ! Kenny expressed some interest in a few cards I showed and I got some great cards in return. Let's have a look ! First up, a Topps 1976 card !! As some of you might know it is the first "vintage" set I am trying to complete so this one is great, even if its a Red Sox card :-) One of my goals for 2014 is to try to get the 1976 set 75%+ complete so if you have any around let's trade !!

Kenny also send me an awesome Konami World Baseball Classic card from Japan with Sidney de Jong from the Dutch Team !! He even included a translation of the back of the card, thanks Kenny !

Next up, minis !!!! I love minis and these two I still missed for my A&G set !! Kenny also added a Sepia GQ Cano mini, great card !

Next up a few Opening Day cards I still needed for my set !!

Yes ! More Yankee Stadium Legacy cards, still over 4500 to go so keep'em coming !!

Here is a cool Bowman Chrome mini, didn't know they existed but I like them ! Also, a awesome Jeter, hope he has a great final season !!

Kenny added 1 relic card, Teixeira ! Furthermore, a cool young Betances !

Kenny also included some autos, meet Betances and a TTM (I think) of Oliberto.

Another auto, Ty Hensley !!

To finish the overview here are two more cool cards, Cano and Clemens !

Thanks Kenny for an awesome package, hope you like the cards I sent you as well ! Looking forward to our next trade !!

Trade with reader Marc !!

A few weeks ago I was contacted by Marc from the United Kingdom proposing to trade some cards !! Well, that line always works for me and it's great to expand the trade partner circle that is getting larger and larger !! Marc could use some of the Piece of History relics and numbered cards and I got a pile of cards from my Want List in return !! Let's have a look !!

The best cards in my view, 3 Cut to the Chase inserts, beautiful cards !!

The second best cards are from the Topps 1976 set I am trying to complete as my first vintage set. Still needs loads but it's a fun project !!

Marc also send me a few minis !! I love minis and I only needs a few of these to complete this set so these were very welcome !!

The package also included a big pile of 2009 Piece of History, helping me get close to completion as well !!

Lastly, Marc send me a bunch of inserts from both the 2012 and 2013 sets, here are a few !! Cut from Above !!

Two more, Brown and Darvish !!

All in all Marc send me a great package so thanks very much Marc !! Looking forward to our next trade !!

Starting with Topps 1976

I have come to appreciate vintage more and more in recent months. The definition of Vintage is still not quite clear to me but my personal definition is simply anything before 1985. I have not been collecting much Vintage up to now but recently decided to give it a go and I am really enjoying it. My key focus is on Topps 1976 set, the year I was born. I don't own many cards yet from that set (I did receive a few from Jeff at My Sports Obsession a few months back) but I was happy enough to "win" a bunch on eBay which gave me a nice start. I hope to get a Want List up soon (but for now simply assume I don't own much of it in case you have any lying around!). Here's my first batch of Topps 1976 !!

My favourite card of the bunch of 1976 cards I received was this Blyleven, one of the players I am collecting, The Flying Dutchman ! Rollie Fingers was also in the pack !!

The famolus Tommy John and a great Pirates card !

Meet the Rookies of 1976 !!

I love the Astros jersey's they had back then !

A quick reminder which teams did well in the 1975 season with the Reds winning in the end !

A Yankee was also included ! and the father of Nick, one of today's Yankees (not sure for how long...)

Two last ones including former Yankees GM Torre !

All in all I really like the Topps 1976 set and I am definitely going to try to complete it in the coming years. So if you have any spare ones let me know and let's trade !

Sports Obsessions Loot !

When I returned from the US this weekend a nice package with vintage cards was waiting for me to be opened ! A while back, Jeff at My Sports Obsessions wanted to get rid of some extra Topps cards from the 70ties and early 80ties he had lying around and I happily volunteered to take some off his hands ! I picked his extras from the 1976 and the 1981 sets. Basically my goal is to try to complete all the "normal" Topps sets from all the years (series 1&2) so this was a great opportunity to add some to my collection. The 1976 set seemed like a cool starting point as it was the year I was born (yes, I am still a young guy !!) while the 1981 set was more of a random set I picked.

Starting with the 1976 set some cool cards were included. As I like great pitchers this Seaver is a great addition to my collection. Yankees are, of course, also always a welcome addition !

I also like the look and feel of these two cards, Roy White and Boog Powell.

The 1976 set also includes newspaper like cards (not sure why the colours of the Dutch flag are at the bottom)

All in all, I like the 1976 set and I will have fun trying to complete it in the coming years ! Of course, in case you have any excess 1976 cards lying around I am always happy to help you clean up ! The 1981 set is also fun, here is another Yankees card and Tom's back as well !

Two more from the '81 set: Winfield and Murcer !

Let me finish with my favourite, and by most hated, team, the Yankees !

Before I forget, Mike Tyson was also included in his former role as a baseball player, I guess before he turned pro-boxer ! (oke sorry, that was probably a lame joke....)

Jeff, thanks you so much for giving me a good start with my quest to complete the '76 and '81 sets !! Hope you enjoyed the package I send you in return !
