Panini Golden Age

After the soccer cards and the Just Minors Mystery Baseball box the final box I picked-up was a 2013 Panini Golden Age, just out of curiosity. I still have mixed feelings about the set so let's have a look !

The good thing about the box is that it guarantees you two auto cards. I pulled a Carl Eller and a David Pollock. As a European guy I have never heard of both. I am also still waiting at my Kershaw/Kemp redemption from 2 years ago so I do not have high hopes of the Eller ever turning up on my doorstep.

Each box alsocontains two relic cards. I actually like the look and feel of these cards !

The base cards are oke-ish and the scans actually looks much better, or maybe it's because of Bo Derek and the Fonz. I still want to chase the Fonz auto in this set as he was one of the cool guys during my childhood, he didn't want to be the Fonz !

The box also includes minis, I love minis although in general I am a little in doubt on this set and its look and feel. Therefore, the likelyhood of me trying to complete this set are slim. I do like the Fonz mini !

All in all, Panini did not blew me away with this one and I was actually hoping for more of a Cooperstown look and feel.

Do you guys like this set. Anyone trying to complete it. Happy to trade some of it away !

  1. I am collecting various parts of the set. Wouldn't mind trading for that Lana Turner if it's available as well! Email me!

  2. I could go for any of the insert set cards you have from this. I still owe you for the Pendleton auto/etc too though! LMK.

  4. I love the Bad News Bears. That's the first movie I can remember seeing that had a baseball theme to it!

  5. AAAAYYYY! The Fonz makes those almost worth it, and Bo Derek I see they also tossed in Evel Knievel in there.

  6. I've never seen the original Bad News Bears movie. I need to see if it's on Netflix.

  7. I love the Bad News Bears additions to the set, that's definitely a neat touch, although I'm not too sure how pleased I'd be to pull one as one of the main 'hits'.

  11. I loved Golden Age this year. It was a lot of fun bustin' packs and fun is what its all about in the end. Definitely preferred it to the similar concept A&G, which seemed to be no fun at all this year.
