Wow, what a contest !!

I was not expecting such an overwhelming response to the contest I launched a few days ago. The total comment count has reached 1,000 in the last hour !!!! Clearly some of you are making this a big battle and it's fun to see so thanks everyone for your efforts.

Topps Redemptions, Part 2 !!

Topps Redemptions, I hear horror stories but I only have good experiences and this time was no different and by far the best one !! A few months ago Topps decided to put some Glavine redemptions in this year's Topps Tribute. Being a Glavine (super)collector and all I, of course, had the strong urge to get these in all its variations ! I didn't succeed completely as I am still missing the #/5 and the 1/1 as well as 3 of the printing plates but other than that I had a lot of luck getting my hands on some cool cards (redemptions). They all arrived in the mail last week !! Here they are !!

As you might notice the /25 is also still missing but Sam at the Daily Dimwit was awesome enough to help me get that one redeemed !!

Yes, the above is all a bit excessive, I know, but it's Glavine and I feel the urge to get a copy of all his cards !!!! (do we call this an addiction ??).

World Baseball Classics !!

Topps Tribute recently launched a World Baseball Classic variation. Normally I don't care much about WBC cards but recently they include a lot of players from Holland !! Hopefully I can show some of those in the coming weeks on my blog. Today a cool addition to my Rizzo collection !

I like these cards !! What do you think ? Did Topps do a cool job or not on these ones ?

A while back I showed some Kershaw relics from this year's Topps Tribute, my favourite set so far this year. A while back I was also able to score one of his cool autographed cards, a real beauty !! Here is it !!

My best Tribute so far !!

I love the Topps Tribute set and actually feel a bit addicted in my quest to own all the different variations of both the Kershaw and Rizzo auto cards....but they look so cool !!

Here's my best so far, a beautiful red parallel, numbered to only 5 so I was really lucky to get one!

A Tribute to Kershaw !!

I love Topps Tribute ! However, these boxes are way too expensive for me so my strategy is to simply focus on the cards I would like for my player collections. Here are two Kershaw's I was able to pick up !

Firstly, a beautifull "Tribute to the Stars" jersey card numbered to 50. I really like these !

The second card is a double-relic card "Superstar Swatches" ! These also look really great and this one is even numbered to only 15 !!

Really love these cards so might pick-up a few here and there for my player collections !!

You guys like these cards as well or am I the only one here ?

Do we call this a Sabathia Rainbow ?

After checking eBay, COMC and other sources I was finally able to score this great Sabathia card, numbered to only 10 !!

This also completes the full range of Topps Tribute cards, Championship Materials as I already owned the versions numbered to #/15, #/25, #/50 and #/99. I think the collectors community calls this a "rainbow" so this would make my first "rainbow" in my collection !!! Not that this was a key goal (I just felt the Topps Tribute cards were cool) but still, it's fun to be able to say now that I also own a Sabathia Rainbow in my collection !

My First Blyleven 1/1

Just a quick post to show you this beauty that arrived at my doorstep today. I have been a big fan of this years Topps Tribute so when I saw this Bert Blyleven 1/1 on eBay I couldn't resist. Despite the auction ending at a time I was asleep there were no snipers around and I won this auction ! My first Flying Dutchman 1/1 in my Blyleven collection and hopefully many to come !!

Rivera Tribute Arrives !

Last week I showed you a 2009 Topps Tribute Relic card of Hanley Ramirez (check post here). I really like the look & feel of the Topps Tribute series. That's why I started checking eBay for some of my favorite players in the 2012 Topps Tribute set (buying one of these hobby boxes is not really an option for me given the high price point). Of course the first player for me to chase was Mariano Rivera and today the first card arrived !!

A great black version of the Mariano Rivera card (#/60), a nice thick classy card. Seeing the cards in front of me and feeling the cards makes me want to chase this set further, or at least the players I collect....so stay tuned for more of Topps 2012 Tribute in the coming weeks (I hope!).

Topps Tribute - Hanley Ramirez

Finally back from a few days of exam stress during which I had to leave my blog behind but tonight I finally had some time again to spend time on my favorite hobby !! I was going through the collection I bought last September (which got me into this hobby in the first place!) and came across a very nice card which I hadn't noticed before. It's a beautiful Topps Tribute relic card  from 2009 of Hanley Ramirez (#/50). Here it is !

I really like the "classy" look and feel of the front but also the back I really like. I guess I got a thing for high-end cards....

The only "shame" is that it is Hanley Ramirez and not one of the players I actually collect. However, it did make me curious to check out the Topps Tribute series, a bit to expensive for my liking but I am going to chase the Yankees cards of this set anyways, in particular the ones of Sabathia and Rivera.

In case you have some of these Yankees cards for trade let me know ! I am planning to set-up my own trade bait page in the coming 2 weeks so will keep you posted !
